Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro goes official in UK, could be coming to India

Xiaomi entered the UK market by launching the Mi 8 Pro, the Mi Band 3, the Redmi 6A and the Mi Electric Scooter. The Mi 8 Pro was previously launched in China, and soon after, which the company started teasing the global roll-out of the phone, and considering India is one of the most important countries for Xiaomi, we expect the phone will be coming to the country soon. Although Xiaomi hasn't categorically mentioned the markets it is planning to launch the Mi 8 Pro in the days to come. The Mi 8 Pro is currently available in Xiaomi's home market - China and in the UK, where it retails for GBP 499.99, which is roughly around Rs 47,300.

The same variant of the Mi 8 Pro, which is launched in China, has come to the UK. And if the Mi 8 Pro really comes to India, we can expect the same phone to hit the stores of the country. The Mi 8 Pro is essentially a global version of the Mi 8 Explorer edition and the key highlights of the phone are that it packs a pressure-sensitive in-display fingerprint scanner and also supports IR-based face unlock and not 3D facial recognition tech which is found inside the Mi 8 Explorer edition.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Mi 8 Pro comes packed with a 6.21-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 2248 x 1080 pixels resolution. The Xiaomi phone supports features like Always-on display mode, Colour temperature adjustment, HDR display, Reading mode, among other things. On the camera front, the Mi 8 Pro packs an ultra light-sensitive AI camera on the rear panel. As for the configurations, the Mi 8 Pro comes with a dual camera setup on the rear with a primary sensor of 12-megapixel for wide-angle shots and secondary sensor of also 12-megapixel. The second camera is a telephoto lens.

The main camera is paired with 4-axis optical stabiliser, and aperture of f/1.8, while the second camera comes with an aperture of f/2.4 and is basically for portrait shots. The rear camera setup of the Mi 8 Pro comes with several features like Portrait mode with background blurring, Dual Pixel Autofocus, 4-axis optical image stabiliser, Single-tone flash, Low light enhancement, HDR imaging, Panorama mode, Burst mode, Face recognition, and AI Beautify. On the front, the Mi 8 Pro comes with a 20-megapixel camera which pairs with 3D Beautify, AI portrait mode, Selfie timer, Face recognition, and HDR imaging.


On the hardware front, the phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 AIE flagship processor with up to 8GB RAM and up to 128GB storage which can be expandable via microSD card. The Mi 8 Pro comes with dual-SIM support and runs Android Oreo-based MIUI 10 out-of-the-box. The phone is backed by a 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4+ support and USB Type-C reversible connector port.
