Samsung Galaxy M40 with Infinity-O display, 32MP triple camera launched: Price, specs, release date

Samsung Galaxy M40 has been launched in India with a punch-hole Infinity-O display, 32MP triple camera setup and a Snapdragon 675 processors. The Galaxy M40 is the fourth smartphone in the Galaxy M-series after the Galaxy M10, Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M30. The Galaxy M40 has been launched in India as an online-exclusive product and will go on sale on Amazon India and Samsung’s online store.

The Galaxy M40 price in India has been set at Rs 19,990. This phone is offered with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It will be available in two colours - Midnight Blue and Seawater Blue - and will go on sale in India for the first time on June 18 at 12pm on Amazon India and Samsung’s online shop. Like the previous Galaxy M phones, the Galaxy M40 will also be on sale for a limited period of time during the sale date.

Samsung Galaxy M40 specifications

The Galaxy M40 is the first phone in the Galaxy M-series to come with an Infinity-O display. Like the Galaxy S10, the Galaxy M40 sports a circular hole on one corner (here top left) of the screen to house the selfie camera. The Galaxy M40 sports a 6.3-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 480 nits, 91 per cent screen ratio and Gorilla Glass protection on top.

The Galaxy M40 does not get an earpiece, but uses an on-board sound technology instead. With the Galaxy M40, Samsung has ditched the 3.5mm heapdhone jack as well, but the company is bundling Type-C earphones with the box. The smartphone measures 7.9mm and weighs 168 grams.

The Galaxy M40 is powered by a 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 675 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM. The phone is offered with 128GB of internal storage and supports storage expandability via a hybrid SIM/microSD slot (up to 512GB). The Galaxy M40 also gets Widevine L1 certification to stream content on platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime in true 1080p resolution.

The triple camera setup on the Galaxy M40 includes a 32-megapixel primary camera with f/1.7 aperture for clear and sharp pictures, an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle camera with a 123-degree FoV, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. The front camera sitting under the punch-hole cutout is a 16-megapixel sensor.

The Galaxy M40 runs on Android Pie with One UI on top. One UI brings features like system-wide Night Mode, brand new UI designed for easier one-handed use and new app icons, among other things. The Galaxy M40 supports Dolby Atmos via earphones and comes with a low SAR value of 0.200 W/kg. The handset houses a 3,500mAh battery and supports 15W fast charging.
